Iontophoresis in cosmetology

Ionophoresis (drug electrophoresis) is a modern method of physiotherapy, which is based on the effect on the human body of galvanic current, enhancing the interaction of tissue cells and drugs applied to the patient’s skin during the procedure. Widely used in medicine and cosmetology. It should be noted that iontophoresis , as one of the methods of hardware cosmetology, has gained incredible popularity today due to its safety and effectiveness in the fight against aging, hyperhidrosis, acne disease, various skin problems.

The essence of medical and cosmetological methods

During the procedure, the chemical compounds that make up the drugs decompose under the influence of current into positive and negative ions. Moving directed in the field of action of constant electric current, they freely penetrate the body, bypassing the skin barrier. The cosmetological effect is achieved due to the action of the components of the injected drugs on the cells of the surface and middle layers of the skin.

At the same time, a positive effect on the tissue of the galvanic current of low voltage is observed. Thanks to its effect, smooth muscle tone is activated, blood circulation improves, blood vessels strengthen, oxygen synthesis and metabolism at the cellular level increase.

The result of applying the method of iontophoresis in cosmetology is a noticeable rejuvenation of the skin, as well as the elimination of certain dermatological problems. Tissues receive optimal hydration and nutrition, become smooth and elastic, age spots and small wrinkles disappear from the skin surface, the epidermis is cleansed of impurities, metabolic products, and toxins.

With acne disease and acne, electrophoresis (iontophoresis) is an excellent alternative to the painful procedure of mechanical cleaning of the face. This method of treatment is called disincrustation and is carried out using special alkaline solutions.

An iontophoresis session consists of four stages:

– cleansing the patient’s skin of dead and dead cells by enzymatic peeling with AHA acids;

– the application of a drug, the choice of which depends on the problems and tasks;

– exposure to the skin by galvanic current produced by a special apparatus;

– application to the skin of an isotonic lotion with tonic properties.

During the procedure, the patient does not experience any discomfort. The tingling current is inconsequential and easily tolerated.

The iontophoresis procedure lasts depending on the area of the treated skin area from 15 to 30 minutes. The effect is manifested gradually. There is no recovery period, compliance with certain restrictions after the session is not required.
