Acne Treatment

Acne treatment depends on the severity of acne and the types of acne on the skin.

Success in treatment depends on the correct combination of home cosmetic care with the use of medicines prescribed by your doctor.

Single non-inflamed acne can be considered a normal option. In this case, it is enough to follow the home rules of cosmetic skin care.

It is also important to know to understand that:
1) Acne after some time resolves on its own and in most cases does not leave rough scars.

2) Acne is not an infection and is not contagious.

3) Acne treatment can be quite long. In most cases, it is required only during puberty. At the end of puberty, the need for treatment will disappear by itself. It is necessary to observe strict discipline in treatment and follow all the doctor’s recommendations in order to succeed in it.

Effective acne treatment is possible only with knowledge of the causes of acne and is aimed at eliminating them:

1) Decreased sebum formation

2) The fight against blockage of the excretory ducts of the sebaceous gland and the mouth of the hair follicle (the dissolution of comedones by comedolytic drugs)

3) Reducing the number of bacteria in the hair follicle

4) Reducing inflammation of the hair follicle, as well as the skin around the follicle

5) Correction of hormonal balance in women

All acne medications are divided into several groups:
Antibacterial
Antiseptics
Antibiotics
Retinoids
Azelaic acid preparations
Hormones and antiandrogens.
Preparations containing benzene peroxide
Preparations with zinc hyaluroate
Preparations with metronidazole
Immunostimulants
The combination of all these medications for the treatment of acne depends on the severity of acne. You can assess your severity by identifying and counting the types of acne on your face or determining the Dermatological Acne Index (DIA).
We start acne treatment with a mild severity of acne:
The sooner you start treatment, the better. As soon as you see the multiple appearance of black dots, especially in the central part of the face, it is immediately worth starting treatment to prevent the disease from developing further.

Let me remind you that with a mild course there are comedones, whiteheads and a small amount of papular (red acne) and pustular (with purulent contents) elements, on average no more than 10. Large knotty elements are absent.

Treatment should be aimed at relieving inflammation and cosmetic skin care, including:

1) Skin Cleansing

2) Application of drugs on inflammatory elements

3) The use of drugs for external treatment

4) Skin protection

First, you need to wash your face more often to wash off dead particles of skin epithelium from the face, which can clog the ducts of the sebaceous glands. It should be washed with warm water, but without soap, since it violates the acid-base balance of the skin, makes the environment more alkaline, in which bacteria develop even better.

Gels and foams for oily and problematic skin are best suited for washing.

It is also necessary to exclude rubbing with alcohol, because it dries the skin even more, dehydrating it. The skin becomes tough and rough.

Now let’s talk about drugs. All acne medications with a mild degree are applied only externally.
Retinoids for external use:

Differin

Apply externally in the form of ointments. Apply a thin layer over the entire surface of the face (important).

Antibiotics for external use:

Erythromycin + zinc complex (zinerite)
Clindamycin (dalacin-T)
Fusidic acid

Apply to inflamed elements (papules, pustules) 2 times a day for 3 months at the same time (important)

Azelaic acid preparations

Skinoren gel or cream

If you start treatment at the time, and more importantly, use all the medicines correctly, then you will not allow acne to develop further.

This form of acne is most common among adolescents. Acne can appear not only on the face, but also on the back, chest. With this form, most comedones go into inflamed elements (papules and pustules), the total number of which ranges from 10 to 40 pcs. Large knobby elements, as with a mild degree, are absent.

Acne treatment should be aimed at removing inflammation and cosmetic skin care. It looks like a mild treatment, but antibacterial drugs are used inside and not on the surface of the skin.

1) use of special. gel and cleansing foam. Rubbing the skin with various lotions. And instead of a regular towel, you should use disposable paper towels.

2) Ingestion of antibiotics, if they are ineffective when applied to the skin surface.

3) The use of retinoids for surface use.

4) Skin protection: the use of moisturizing creams for the skin of the face, because retinoids significantly reduce the production of sebum, which leads to dry skin.

Now let’s talk about drugs.
Retinoids for external use:

Differin

Apply externally in the form of ointments. Apply a thin layer over the entire surface of the face (important).

Antibiotics for oral administration

Erythromycin
Clindamycin
Tetracycline

(See the scheme of use separately for each drug)

In some cases, women are prescribed hormonal drugs, with the remaining treatment methods ineffective. The effect is achieved by balancing hormonal status with the use of antiandrogenic drugs, but only after consulting a gynecologist-endocrinologist.

In addition to the entire treatment of acne, methods such as autohemotherapy, reflux therapy, and psychotherapy are sometimes used .
